Japanese - English Translation Rates

It is almost impossible to quote a flat rate for all translation services, as the rate for any given job will depend upon the nature of the subject matter, the deadline required, the degree of repetition involved in the source material, the file format in which the material is presented etc.

Also, unlike translation between many European languages, the number of characters in a Japanese source document is generally between 1.8 and 2.5 times the number of English words in the finished translation. Some clients prefer to be quoted a rate per source character and some prefer per translated word, meaning that my rates can vary from job to job.

However, my rates are extremely reasonable for the field of Japanese to English technical translation, and I aim to provide a quote quickly and clearly as soon as I know what any potential job entails. To give a rough idea, you can expect to pay between GBP70 and GBP90 per 1000 Japanese characters, or between GBP140 and GBP180 per 1000 English words. As mentioned above, these rates will vary depending on a number of factors.
